ICH & KAMINSKI ENDCREDIT

Pitch

"Ich ind Kaminski" is the latest film by German film director Wolfgang Becker, known to the international audience for his work "Good Bye Lenin!"
The pitch is : Young journalist Sebastian Zöllner is writing an article on painter Manuel Kaminski. Zöllner hopes that Kaminski dies soon, so that he can cash on his article.

Wolfgang had seen Shaman on Arte and he contacted me to direct and animate the title sequence. The main idea was to put the painter Kaminski in the history of Art timeline. He was supposed to have a carrier from the 40's to the 60's. The sequence is also an animated tribute to the paintings of the XXth century (from Munch to Wharol). Each title (actors, script, music, etc...) has to be illustrated by a painter we both love (or sometime hate!) We have had a great time brain storming to make the final list of 23 artists. This is a very partial list, with a lot of German painters, and without any conceptual artists.

The biggest challenge for me was to create a look alike painting for each title. I was very conscient that it will be impossible to make a perfect copy of each painter style, which is a lifetime achievement. The chosen artist has to be easy to identify, but the painting has to be an original, because of the film format and also for copyright reasons.
